Putnam County Hospital to remain open

A Heartland hospital believes it has a plan to keep its doors open.

The Board of Directors of Putnam County Memorial Hospital feared in February it would have to close the hospital. But Monday, Nettie Lewis, board chairwoman, told KTVO the board hopes that a new agreement will keep the hospital functioning and continuing to serve patients.

KTVO received this statement Monday afternoon from Lewis:

"The Putnam County Memorial Hospital Board of Directors has approved an affiliation with Practice Management Plus of Jefferson City, Mo., and Premiere Specialty Network for hospital management and physician placement at Putnam County Memorial Hospital."

Lewis says under the plan, two primary care physicians could be on-board in early March and five specialty physicians could be serving the hospital in April.
