Reconstruction work begins on Illinois Street in Kirksville
KIRKSVILLE, Mo. —
A major reconstruction project on one Kirksville street is now underway.
Work on Illinois Street began Monday.
The Kirksville Public Works Department is doing a complete tear-out of the street from Marion to Baltimore.
During construction, the street will be closed to through traffic or reduced to one lane.
Motorists are asked to consider using an alternate route, if possible.
When complete, the project will result in an improved street, complete with new curb, gutter, driving surface and the addition of bicycle lanes.
City staffers say the expected completion date of the work is September 7, 2018, dependent on weather.
According to the 2018 budget, the price-tag on this project is estimated at about $800,000.
