Republican candidate for governor says he has a fresh perspective

In preparation of the 2018 election, the South Central Iowa Federation of Labor hosted a forum at Ottumwa’s Bridge View Center Saturday afternoon for all the candidates running for governor.

There are 7 Democratic candidates, out of them 6 showed up for the forum Saturday.

One of three Republican candidates was also in attendance.

KTVO had the chance to catch up with Republican candidate Steven Ray. He says he can bring a fresh perspective that voters don’t see with Governor Kim Reynolds.

“I’ve been around the state, I’ve talked to a lot of people – a lot of republicans – who feel that there are a lot of mainstream issues right now that are being diverted and gone off track. And, I think that I can bring the type of leadership to center that back and do what’s best for Iowans. I don’t have any agenda other than what it takes to make Iowa better. That’s the only agenda I have,” said Ray.
