Residents of Ottumwa can purchase a ham and help those in need

Pipestone Veterinary Clinics are partnering up with Hy-Vee for a good cause.

For the Give a Helping Ham event, Pipestone will donate one pound of pork for every pound of ham residents purchase at any of the Hy-Vee locations in Ottumwa.

Give a Helping Ham will start on November 14 and will go on until November 24.

The meat donated will go to the local Food Bank and will help families in need.

“We would like to exceed the number that we had last year. Last year, we donated 82,000 pounds of pork to the various food banks. Here in Ottumwa alone, we donated 11,000 pounds of pork to the Food Bank of Iowa. So, we would like to exceed that goal,” said Steve Menke, Pipestone Veterinarian.

Residents don’t have to do anything aside from going to any of the Hy-Vee locations in Ottumwa and purchase a ham.
