Residents say Oktoberfest allows old friends to reconnect

Ottumwa's Oktoberfest takes place inside the Jimmy Jones Shelter at the Greater Ottumwa Park./KTVO.

Ottumwa residents have been taking full advantage of everything the 44th annual Oktoberfest has to offer. KTVO had the chance to talk to some residents about why the love this festival.

“We like it that they bring in awesome bands and The Boys are the best modern-county music band there is in Southeast Iowa,” said Amy Lockard.

“Running into my aunt, spending time with her, being back home and just enjoying the people,” said Karen Gettings.

“I like to come down here – haven’t hardly missed one ever – see a lot of friends that I haven’t run into in a long time. It’s sort of like a class reunion all over again. The food and just the environment of it all, I love it,” said Paula Howard.

Oktoberfest goes through Saturday night and the parade will take place that morning in downtown Ottumwa.
