Missing SE Iowa snowmobile driver found dead

UPDATE: The body of Spencer Adam was found in the Skunk River just before 10 a.m. Monday.

This location was about 3/4 mile down river from where his snowmobile was located earlier.

Adam’s body will be sent for medical examination.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office and Iowa DNR were assisted at the scene by Henry County Emergency Management, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Fairfield Fire and Rescue.

On January 14, 2019 at 1:49 a.m., the Henry County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a missing snowmobile driver.

Henry County began searching with authorities from Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

Shortly after 3 a.m., the snowmobile was located near the Skunk River and Highway 34 bridge. The driver, Spencer Ray Adam, 25, of Richland, Iowa, was not found near the snowmobile.

Adam is still missing. The DNR, Fairfield Fire and Henry County Sheriff’s Office will continue to search the river area for the missing man.
