Semi snaps off utility pole; overhead lines land on big rig
Kirksville, Mo. —
There were a few scary moments for a tractor-trailer driver in Kirksville Thursday afternoon. His big rig caught overhead lines and broke off a utility pole.
It happened just before 3 p.m. at the intersection of North New and Sharon streets.
Kirksville police told KTVO at the scene the driver was William Wright, 36, of Cairo, Mo.
Wright said he had just made a delivery at a home in the neighborhood before this happened.
Officers say Wright's semi was simply too tall and caught the overhead lines, bringing them down on top of his truck.
Luckily they were not electrical, but cable lines.
No one was hurt in the incident.
Police blocked off several blocks of North New Street until the scene could be cleared.
