Shooting outside Kirksville ruled self-inflicted
NEAR KIRKSVILLE, Mo. —
KTVO now has an update on a weekend shooting we first told you about Sunday night.
It happened just before noon on Sunday at a home on Deer Run Road, just northwest of Kirksville.
Adair County Sheriff Robert Hardwick said law enforcement and first responders were dispatched for a report of a gunshot being heard inside a home.
The sheriff told KTVO Monday the investigation revealed the gunshot wound was self-inflicted.
Hardwick said the 26-year-old man who lived at the residence was home alone at the time and apparently shot himself in the left shoulder with a .22 caliber revolver.
The man, whose name is not being released, was taken to Northeast Regional Medical Center for treatment of a gunshot wound.
A condition report was not available at the time this story was posted.
