Shooting suspect apprehended out of town
KIRKSVILLE, Mo. —
A Kirksville shooting suspect is behind bars after he was found in another city.
The Kirksville Police Department said that Sherrod D. Sanning, 26, was taken into custody in Columbia Tuesday. Sanning was the prime suspect in a shooting on May 18 that put the victim in the hospital.
Following a tip from Kirksville police, detectives with the Columbia Police Department identified Sanning staying at a Columbia residence. Sanning reportedly fled the scene and tried to exit through a rear window before being apprehended.
It is uncertain if new charges will be filed in Columbia.
In Adair County, Sanning was wanted for 1st degree assault and armed criminal action in connection with the May shooting.
