Slick roads are to blame for a one-vehicle crash that injured two northeast Missouri residents.

It happened just after 9 a.m. Thursday on Highway 63, two-and-a-half miles south of Macon.

State troopers said an SUV driven by Damon Mason, 42, of Macon, was southbound when he lost control because of the snow-covered roadway.

The SUV ran off the right side of the highway, hit a road sign and struck an embankment, causing it to overturn.

Mason suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Samaritan Hospital in Macon.

Mason's passenger, Malik Jones, 20, also from Macon, suffered moderate injuries. She was going to seek her own treatment.

According to the online crash report, both people were buckled up when the crash happened.
