Southeast Iowa man behind bars in Missouri facing charges

A southeast Iowa man is behind bars in northeast Missouri facing charges.

On Monday, the Lewis County Sheriff's Office received a report of a stolen truck from the Beilstein Camper Sales parking lot in La Grange, Missouri.

The owner attempted to chase the truck on Highway 61, but he was unable to catch the suspect.

An officer from the Palmyra, Mo. Police Department later located the truck at a gas station in Palmyra.

Upon investigation, Christopher E. Guzman, 18, of Fort Madison, Iowa, was arrested and charged with stealing the truck.

Authorities also located a stolen Jeep near Beilstein Camper Sales.

That vehicle was reported stolen out of Donnellson, Iowa. Items taken from several residents in Canton, Mo., as well as the Lee County, Iowa, area were located inside the vehicle.

Guzman remains in the Lewis County Jail on $15,000 cash-only bond.

The Lewis County Sheriff's Office, Canton Police, Lee County Sheriff's Office and the Fort Madison Police Department continue to investigate the incident. The Missouri Highway Patrol and Palmyra Police Department also assisted.
