Southeast Iowa sex offender dies in jail

A prison inmate incarcerated for a southeast Iowa crime has died while in custody.

Carl Thomas Robinson, 23, died Monday afternoon due to an unexpected medical issue.

He was pronounced dead at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Robinson had been serving a five-year sentence for the Appanoose County crime of Sex Offender Registration Violation- 2nd Offense.

His incarceration began on December 11, 2017.
