'Spay Day' brings awareness to the Heartland
Kirksville, MO. —
Tuesday was World Spay Day to help bring awareness of controlling the pet population.
Locally, the Kirksville - Protect Our Pets organization (KV-POP) did their annual World Spay Day Coupon Giveaway at the Adair County Public Library.
The group's mission is to promote the importance of spaying and neutering of dogs and cats in northeast Missouri to prevent unwanted litters.
The coupon will help new pet owners save money on those services.
"It costs a little bit of money, it's true. If you just barely pay the bills every month then this cost is a little bit off putting. But it's a one time expense and it's way cheaper than feeding a pregnant animal or nursing babies and taking care of them. So we're trying to help because it is an expense not everyone can plan for," said KV-POP President Bridget Thomas.
About over 100 coupons were passed out at the event.
KV-POP will hold another spay and neuter coupon giveaway this Saturday, February 27 from 10 a.m. to Noon at the Schuyler County Public Library in Lancaster.
The coupons are good at any area veterinary clinic from now until the end of March.
