Kirksville, Mo. — The 6th annual 2019 Steam Summit takes place Tuesday from 7:45 a.m. until 2:00 p.m at William Matthew Middle School in Kirksville.
The event was created six years ago after the Kirksville Chamber of Commerce received a grant that would fund steam activities in the community.
The theme of this year's summit is "Building the Workforce of Tomorrow".
Middle and high school students, educators and industry and business professionals will be brought in to talk about steam activities like workforce, engineering and technology.
Coordinator Julie Esquivel says the event is made for everyone no matter their background in steam activities.
“ To really understand how, science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics really tie into almost everything we do. Not just for someone who is interested in technology or engineering. It can apply to really any area," Esquivel said.
Organizers say they hope the student population of attendants continues to grow.
The event is free for students and cost is $10 for adults.
You are able to stop by the day of the event and attend any session.
