Trees reported stolen in Fairfield
FAIRFIELD, Iowa —
About a year ago, mysterious trees popped up in Fairfield, but now they are disappearing. City officials say several trees were stolen from Highway 1, north of the city limits.
The trees were planted about a year ago to help improve how the city looks and to drift snow away from the road during winter.
It is frustrating because the community pulled together to plant the trees and it’s always disappointing when one takes advantage of so many peoples dedication to the community,” said Chief of Police, David Thomas.
The case is currently under investigation. The person responsible could face a serious theft misdemeanor if the stolen property is worth more than $200.
