Suspect in Ottumwa shooting free on bond
OTTUMWA, Iowa —
The Ottumwa man charged in Sunday night's shooting is free on bond.
Michael James Williams, 24, is accused of firing a handgun that wounded a 17-year-old boy. Police say the overnight shooting on Ellis Avenue was drug related.
Williams was apprehended the next day. Surveillance footage submitted to KTVO by Lester McIntosh shows Williams' arrest Monday on Queen Anne Avenue in Ottumwa.
Williams is charged with Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, and Carrying Weapons.
He posted bond earlier this week, and was released from the Wapello County Jail. Williams is scheduled to appear in court for his preliminary hearing Oct.17.
Lt. Chad Farrington tells KTVO investigators are actively working on this case. He said additional charges or arrests are possible.
