SUV runs over Macon man

Update: April 2, 2014- On Monday, March 31, the Macon Police Department contacted two suspects in regard to the investigation of the falsely reported hit and run accident on March 14, 2014.

Both suspects were arrested for filing a false report and hindering an investigation.

The suspects, both 21-year-old white males of Macon, were processed at the Macon Police Department and were later taken to the Macon County Jail pending formal charges.

Both suspects posted bond and were released on summonses pending a Division II court date.


We have new details on an incident that happened just outside of Macon, Mo. around 3 in the morning last Friday.

The crash was originally falsely reported as a hit-and-run to Macon Police.

The investigation revealed the accident didn't even happen in Macon.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol then took over the investigation when it was learned the accident happened on Kestrel Avenue half-a-mile southeast of Macon.

The patrol says Brandon Eggenberg, 20, of Macon, was seriously injured.

He had been riding on the hood of an SUV, slipped off and was run over by the vehicle, driven by 21-year-old Destin Green, 21, of Anabel, Mo.

At last check, Eggenberg was listed in fair condition in a Columbia hospital.

There is no word on any charges being filed at this time.
