Tax collectors manage last-minute crowds
KIRKSVILLE, Mo. —
As the last few days of 2017 wind down, many were rushing to pay property taxes at the last minute on Thursday.
At the Adair County Collector's Office, the line flowed across the hall.
Collector of Revenue Sonja Harden said the line had been that way since the office opened in the morning.
The last day to pay property taxes in person, without incurring a penalty, is Friday.
Harden said she expects the lines to be even worse.
KTVO spoke with an Adair County property holder in line who said, though there was a long line, it took him about 10 minutes to get to the payment counter.
