“We love our community, we love Kirksville, Adair County and this is a great opportunity for just opening our church and friends around the community," said Kirksville Church of Nazarene Pastor Michael Askew.

This is the second year Kirksivlle Church of Nazarene has opened its doors to the community for a Thanksgiving dinner.

“I know there’s other churches in the community that are offering Thanksgiving meals as well which is great, said Askew. "We just want to be one of those that reaches out a hand with some of the food and fellowship.”

Missionary President Wilma Yates says at the dinner Sunday night, the church also held a silent and live auction.

“All of the money that is raised through the auction goes to World evangelism which is here in Kirksville as well as around the world."

“That’s our primary goal is to raise funds to share the good news in all corners of the world," said Askew.

While the auction helps raise money for World Missions, Yates says the diner is a great opportunity to welcome and meet members in the community.

“Just to have fellowship with those in the community and those that attend our church already, we just want to have fun and fellowship and reach out into the community. That’s the real purpose of it.”

Around 100 people attended the dinner Sunday night.
