Budget cuts focus of Truman Board of Governors meeting
KIRKSVILLE, MO. —
On Saturday, Truman State University in Kirksville held its first Board of Governors meeting of 2018.
President Dr. Sue Thomas addressed Missouri Governor Eric Greitens' recent budget cut proposal for higher education.
Worst case scenario, the university is looking at an almost eight percent decrease in funding.
The price of tuition would increase by two percent.
Thomas says she is disappointed by this budget proposal.
This isn't the first time the university is facing a funding issue.
Last year, Truman's budget was also slashed.
Overall, Greitens is proposing a nearly $70 million cut from public colleges and universities as a whole.
