Unconscious driver takes wild ride through Heartland town

Residents of one Heartland community looked out their windows on Wednesday evening to see a car careening through their yards.

The incident started just before 8 p.m.

That's when 22 year old Tanner Pace was driving westbound on Hwy 78, coming into Wayland.

According to the Henry County Sheriff's Office the Bartlesville, Oklahoma man became unconscious for an unknown reason.

While unconscious Pace drove off the roadway striking buildings and structures on three properties on Railroad Street.

Damaged structures included a utility shed, a garage and a fire pit.

All told homeowners suffered damages in excess of $20,000.

Pace's car was destroyed and he suffered minor injuries.

Pace passed a Field Sobriety Test.

A K-9 unit did find marijuana residue in the vehicle and a can of air duster in the vehicle.

At this time, Pace has only been issued citations for Failure to Maintain Control and not using a safety belt.

The investigation into the incident remains active.
