Car catches fire outside Dollar General

Authorities say they are unsure who the car belongs to./KTVO.


Assistant Chief Mike Craff says they were able to locate the owner of the car, who was inside the store at the time of the incident. The car was towed at the owner's request, but authorities would not release their name.


The Ottumwa Fire Department responded to a car fire at the Dollar General on Main Street Wednesday afternoon.

Around 12 p.m., firefighters were called to the scene and found the motor of a car on fire.

The crew was able to put the fire out within 10 minutes.

Assistant Fire Chief Mike Craff told KTVO they do not know who owns the car or how long it had been outside the store before it caught fire.
