OTTUMWA-Norman E. Brandt Jr., 59, of Ottumwa, passed away May 6, 2018 at his home.

He was born September 15, 1958 in Ottumwa to Norman Elmer and Janet Blanchard Brandt. He married Cheryl Wilson on August 15, 1986 and she preceded him in death on July 15, 1993.

A 1976 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Norman earned a degree in radiology from Indian Hills Community College. He was an x-ray technician at Ottumwa Regional Health Center for 25 years.

He enjoyed attending concerts, ice fishing, hunting morel mushrooms, chopping wood and sitting around the fire pit. Norman was a Harley Davidson fan and a baseball fan, especially of the New York Yankees.

Surviving are his children, Shawn Ann Wilson and Coleman Ray Brandt both of Bremerton, WA and Clayton Samuel Brandt of Ottumwa; his mother, Janet Brandt of Ottumwa; a brother, Gregory (Julie) Brandt of Des Moines; a sister, Lisa (Dale) Schimmelpfennig of Ottumwa; Roma Wedlake and her children, James Wedlake (Shana Berry) and Dan McNabb and grandson, Roger.

He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents, Harold and Francis Blanchard.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with Gary Reeves officiating. Cremation will follow the services.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.
