KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Bulldog Women's Soccer team doubled their scoring output for the season and then some in a 4-0 blitz of Rockhurst on Sunday afternoon.

The match got off to a bang as just 42 seconds in, Hanna Hickey took a pass from Kelsey Murphy and snuck the ball in on the near post for the 1-0 lead. It was the freshman's first collegiate goal.

Later in the half, Katie Mattingly had to come up big after her own turnover. Mattingly's up field pass was picked off by Jillian Leetch of Rockhurst which led to a partial breakaway. Leetch's shot was snagged by the Truman keeper to preserve the lead.

A few minutes later at the other end of the field, Allison Lockett's shot was deflected off the goal post and the ball bounced down the line. Addy Hoffman buried it from the doorstep and Truman led 2-0 32 minutes into the match.

The Bulldogs survived a late scare in the period when off a quick restart at the top of the 18, Cathy Rometti hit a low liner that Mattingly punched away on a dive as the halftime clock nearly expired.

Just five minutes into the second the Bulldogs were award a free kick on the endline from 20-yards away and Murphy swung the free kick into the goal area for Lockett to head it in for the 3-0 advantage.

Not 30 seconds later, Lockett recorded her second goal and third point of the contest as she took Isabel Kurzban's pass and drilled it into the top left corner.

Both teams registered 11 shots with Rockhurst getting seven on goal and Truman eight.

The victory improved Truman to 2-2-2 overall and 2-1-1 in the GLVC.

The team will head south for matches against Drury and Missouri S&T next weekend.
