Truman State baseball drops two to Missouri S&T
Tim Lira drove in six of Missouri S&T's 10 runs as the Miners took control of the fourth and final GLVC Tournament spot available in the West Division with a doubleheader sweep over the Truman Bulldogs on Saturday.
The series and the season for Truman will conclude on Saturday with a doubleheader starting at noon. There will be special presentations prior to the first pitch and seniors will be honored in between games.
Doubleheader Notes: •Both Truman starting pitchers went seven innings with Rian Markes getting the start in the opener and not allowing an earned run in seven while Matt Wade pitched his second straight complete game in the nightcap.
•Mason King belted his first home run of the season to leadoff the bottom of the first in game one.
•King hit .429 for the two games as Charlie Kreh went 2-for-6 and added an RBI.
•S&T's Tim Lira had six RBIs, including a grand slam in a six-run eighth inning in game one.
•Justus Nelson went 4-for-5 in the opener and 5-for-8 overall to lead the S&T offense.
•The Miners leapfrogged William Jewell in the GLVC West standings with their wins and can secure their spot in the conference tournament with one victory on Saturday.
