Truman State soccer announces schedules

The Truman State University men's and women's soccer programs officially announced their schedules for 2017. The men will look to rebound from a 2016 campaign that saw them go 6-7-4 overall, which included a mark of 4-7-3 in Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) play. Meanwhile, the women are in search of a 24th consecutive winning season after finishing last fall at 15-2-4, 12-1-2 in GLVC action.

The men will open their slate of 17 matches with Quincy's Alumni Cup for the second year in a row, this time against Lindenwood on Sept. 1 at 5 p.m. and Saginaw Valley State two days later with kickoff set for 11 a.m. Then, the home opener will pit the Bulldogs against the Bearcats of Southwest Baptist and for that, action will begin at 3 p.m. at Bulldog Soccer Park.

Following that three-match non-conference span, the rest of the regular-season schedule will consist of 14 GLVC showdowns (starts with Quincy on Sept. 8) split evenly with seven inside the friendly confines and seven away from home. With the closing of Saint Joseph's, the conference schedule for all teams in the conference has been cut from 15 to 14.

For the women's 16 total meetings, their first two are outside of the GLVC and on the road against the likes of Ashland on Aug. 31 at 3 p.m. and Ohio Dominican on Sept. 2 at 11 a.m. Then comes the 14-match conference season and both teams GLVC home openers will be against Illinois Springfield on Sept. 10. This season, as is GLVC policy, the men will play first with the women to follow.
