Truman's Cassie Jennings Hannah Oberdiek and Elle Renault named All-Region Track
The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has recognized three Bulldogs as All-Region following the completion of the 2018 regular season.
Hannah Oberdiek, Elle Renault and Cassie Jennings earned the distinction by having a top-five mark in their respective event in the Midwest region.
The Midwest region consists teams from the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) and Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC).
Renault, the GLVC Javelin champion, had the second longest throw in the event in the region. Her conference winning mark of 138-9 was about four feet shy of the top mark in the region held by McKendree's Kirby Smith (143-1) that was hit a month earlier.
Oberdiek set a new personal best in the Long Jump at the Truman Quad in late April and that was the third best jump. Oberdiek's distance was 18-9.25 and only trailed Jannelle Perry (Ursuline-Ohio/20-5.25) and Cierra Pulliam (Lewis/19-07.50).
Cassie Jennings was also a conference champ as she claimed the crown in the Pole Vault. However it was her home turf that provided the fifth-best height in the region. Jennings cleared 12-4 at the Truman Quad but trailed four others in the region in the event. Grand Valley State's Ellianne Kimes cleared 13-03.75 to lead the group.
