EBF and Albia advance to state championship games

FORT DODGE, Ia. - No. 9 EBF advanced to the state title game for the first time since 2014, No. 9 Albia advanced to the state title for the first time ever.

EBF topped No. 3 Interstate 35 2-0 thanks to a two-run homer from Randie Richmond in the 5th inning. EBF will face No. 8 Iowa City Regina which topped 2nd ranked Durant 2-1, Friday, July 21st at 4:55pm.

Albia took on No. 8 Mount Vernon and won 5-2. Rylee Leshen, Hannah Isley and Jena Lawrence hit solo home runs in the win. Albia will play No. 1 Davenport Assumption, which topped Center Point-Urbana 9-1, in the championship game at 7:09pm on Friday, July 21st.

Sigourney was featured in a 9 inning game including a 92 minute lightning delay and an ending at 12:48am. Sigourney and Clarksville combined for 40 hits, 24 for Clarksville(a new state record) & 16 for Sigourney, but the Savages fell 15-12. Autum Barthelman did tie a state record with 5 hits, going 5-5, 3 runs and 2 RBI.

Sigourney will face No. 7 Westwood Friday, July 21st at 1:30pm in the third place game.
