Truman State women's basketball bounce Missouri S&T 79 to 59
The Truman Women started an important three-game in five day span with a 79-59 victory over Missouri S&T to sweep the season series over the Lady Miners.
Jamie Gleeson made all five of her field goal attempts and scored a Truman career high of 11 points and was one of four Bulldogs in double figures on the night.Rachel Edmundson led all Truman scorers with 12 points while Katie Jaseckas and Remy Davenport also added 11 each. Jaseckas tallied her fourth double-double of the season with 10 rebounds.
The Bulldogs (9-3; 4-1 GLVC) outscored S&T (6-7; 1-4 GLVC) 27-22 in the first quarter. The 27 points were the most by a Truman team in a GLVC quarter since the system began in 2014.
The Lady Miners went on a 6-0 run early in the second quarter and led 31-30 before Truman put the game away with a 17-2 run capped by consecutive three-pointers from Jaseckas and Sloane Totta. The two triples were separated by the halftime intermission.
The Bulldogs knocked down 11 three-pointers on the night, second most in a game this season (13 against Missouri Valley in the opener) and matched a season-high with assists with 20. Tiffany Davenport had five dimes andTotta added four.
Bria Pierce led the Lady Miners with 17 points and eight rebounds.
Truman will head to Kansas City for a date with Rockhurst University on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. The Hawks held on for a 59-56 road win at William Jewell on Thursday. The Cardinals missed a pair of three-pointers in the final 10 seconds in an attempt to tie the game.
